Does anyone have the outline for the upcoming special talk?
by NikL ini would like to look it over.
-
Brian J
Before my appointment Exodus I thought that the Special Talk was being given for the first time ever via Branch Tie in. That no local elders will be giving the 2018 Special Talk?
Perhaps the outline is out there and was published for congs that for some reason cant tie in to the mothership.

Session #8: "Bullet in the Head"
by Brian J inso at the phd today with my wife and me, and in slowly getting to the heart of matters (like peeling an onion if you ask me), the dialogue in part went like this: .
phd: if it came down to it, would you take a bullet in the head instead of giving up membership in your organization?
wife: absolutely, i would die for my faith.

So at the PhD today with my wife and me, and in slowly getting to the heart of matters (like peeling an onion if you ask me), the dialogue in part went like this:
PhD: If it came down to it, would you take a bullet in the head instead of giving up membership in your organization?
Wife: Absolutely, I would die for my faith.
PhD: No, that's not what I asked. You can keep your faith in God and your personal relationship with him, its yours to have, hold, love, and cherish. What I asked is would you take a bullet in the head vs. renouncing membership in the WT organization?
Wife: Absolutely, I would die for what I would believe.
PhD: What about you Brian? Same question.
Brian: Where do I sign?
I married SUCH an intelligent woman. She knows how to love from the heart, how to care for and protect me and the kids. She is giving and unselfish. A deep thinker. Thrifty. Loves music, nature, wine, good food, the peace of sitting at the front of the plane vs. the back, walks on the beach, making things grow...I mean the list goes on and on. But she would would watch her family be executed vs. renouncing her membership in a 100 year old man made organization.
Good god almighty, somebody help me wrap my angry mind around this.

Post your real name, city, state, and congregation on this forum.
That'll take care of your service problem in short order.

Did You Go To Meetings in Very Inclement Weather?
by minimus inliving in new england means having lots of snow and cold.
elders were very reluctant to cancel or reschedule a meeting due to the weather.
i lived 3 towns away from the kingdom hall and if it was icy and treacherous my vote would always be to cancel the meeting....and forget about rescheduling!.
-
Brian J
We cancel meetings at the THREAT of inclement weather.
Our sister congregation, same KH, jokes at us for the amount of meetings we cancel in a year. Love it.
Roads are wet and temp going all the way down to 33F. Better cancel.
I just feel bad when all the DF folks and older ones who don't get the cancellation emails and text messages show up dressed and pressed to a cold and wet locked door.

New Letter: Announcements and Reminders
by Brian J inletter dated 1/1/2018.
i know they are trying to simplify but it all is such a confusing mess.... forms, dates, calculators, committees, logins, publisher record cards.....jesus would barf.
to all bodies of elders re: announcements and reminders dear brothers: in an effort to reduce the number of letters sent to all bodies of elders and congregations, most announcements from the branch office will now be conveyed to congregations by means of the announcements and reminders (s-147) form.

The first part of the form will contain information for the elders only. If there are announcements for the congregation, these will appear on a separate page of the form. Instructions on the form will indicate which announcements are to be read to the congregation and/or posted on the information board when applicable. The Announcements and Reminders form will be released in the “Forms” section of the “Documents” tab on jw.org no more than once a month. When there are no announcements or reminders for a particular month, this will be noted on the jw.org screen. Information containing organizational policy will continue to be released by means of dated letters for ease of reference in Index to Letters for Bodies of Elders (S-22). Thank you for your diligence and faithfulness in caring for the needs of the congregation. (Heb. 13:7) We send our warm Christian love. Your brothers, Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witness
